About Us

Jeanne Wiley, RPR, CCR, has been a professional stenotype reporter since 1976. She, along with her partner Nancy Cook, founded the firm in 1984. When Ms. Cook left in 1994 to pursue a legal career, Jeanne became the sole owner and has grown the firm continuously, becoming one of the largest court reporting firms in Virginia.

In June of 2017, Cook & Wiley became an integral part of Planet Depos, a global court reporting company providing court reporting, interpretation, and trial support services to clients around the world. Cook & Wiley clients can expect the same great court reporters and service they have come to expect, with the added benefits of a global court reporter base, experienced trial services technicians, and over 50 new office locations.

In addition to her duties as a working reporter and company manager, Jeanne maintains a high degree of commitment to her profession, having served on numerous committees for the Virginia Court Reporters Association and as the Chief Examiner in Richmond for a number of years for the NCRA testing program. She was elected president of the VCRA in 1995/1996, and in 2003 received the prestigious Frank G. Tayloe Award for her many contributions to the profession.

Cheryl Campbell, the office manager, epitomizes the longevity and professionalism of Cook & Wiley, having been with the firm 25 years. In addition, Jennifer Cather, the production manager, has been with the firm since 2000. Our newest associate, Emily Barnett, joined us in the summer of 2010 as our scheduling coordinator after graduating from paralegal school at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College.

Many of our reporters have been with the firm in excess of 10 years, with some having over 20 years experience with Cook & Wiley. The firm strives to foster a culture of longevity which benefits our clients and our professional staff and contributes to our client-focus commitment.

“I am writing to offer my highest recommendation of Cook and Wiley. I have used them for over 30 years and cannot say enough good things about all aspects of their service. They are used exclusively by our firm and they never fail to do a great job.”

“I have been a trial lawyer for 34 years and have worked with dozens of court reporters. Lori Gerczak is hands down the best. She’s accurate and completely dependable. As important in long cases, she has a great attitude. She has reported several trial days for me that went past midnight and never lost her sense of humor.”
